Nine films on Foreign Oscar longlist
Nine-spot films have gone fore to the next round of vote in the Charles Herbert Best Foreign Linguistic communication Motion picture class for the Oscars.
Sixty-three films, including the Irish-language cinema 'Kings', had originally qualified in this category.
The ball club films in contention are: 'The Counterfeiters' (Austria), 'The Year My Parents Went on Vacation' (Federative Republic of Brazil), 'Days of Darkness' (Canada), 'Beaufort' (Israel), 'The Unknown quantity Woman' (Italy), 'Mongol' (Kazakhstan), 'Katyn' (Republic of Poland), '12' (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics) and 'The Trap' (Serbia).
The Oscar nominations will be announced on Tuesday 22 Jan with the awards ceremony taking position on William Ashley Sunday 24 Feb.
